Trance, for Brass Band, Score

This moving and stirring composition was written on commission from two world-renowned ensembles: Brass Band Bürgermusik, of Lucerne, Switzerland and Eikanger Brass Band of Lindås, Norway. It depicts a mother who is thrown into doubt as to whethershe will keep her child. Underlying the work is the Bach chorale 'Wie schön leuchtet der Abendstern' (How lovely shines the evening star). Beginning hesitantly, the music develops into a kind of trance, in which the mother is dancing faster andfaster to the silent cries and the heartbeat of the unborn child, paired with her fears, doubts and hopes.
